What's in a name?

While setting up this new blog in preparation for moving it (for hosting purposes) to the Baptists Today website, I was prompted to name the blog.
I considered "Wordman," but thought it sounded a bit pretentious.
I mulled over "Tony Today" (to go along with Baptists Today), but sometimes the blogs won't always appear on the same day they were written.
While at the Biblical Recorder, I used "Editor's Journal" for my blog, "Intrigued" for my personal column, and "I was just thinking" for the formal editorial, but I felt the need for something different.
For now, at least, I've decided to drop back to the name I gave my newsletter column when serving as pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Boone, N.C., many moons ago.
I called it "Homily Grits." Southerners (at least) will recognize the homespun similarity to "hominy grits," which was a major food group where I grew up.
Church folk will recognize that "homily" calls to mind a devotional or sermonic thought.
My BT blogs won't be limited to those, of course. Sometimes they'll be commentary on current events. Sometimes they'll be travelogues. Sometimes they'll be breaking news items or reports on an event I'm attending.
Whatever the case, I hope readers will find them palatable and nourishing, with just the right amount of seasoning to provide food for the soul ... and the mind.

Great to see you blogging again. I'll look forward to many fine "Homily Grits" recipes from you.
