While not an Old Testament scholar like you, I did my share of beekeeping growing up.
My dad and Uncle Bruce put 10 hives in the midst of a pimento pepper farm on Monteagle Mtn., in addition to the hives we kept at home.
After being dragged to monthly meetings of the Chattanooga Area Beekeepers Association and a week-long course in beginning beekeeping each year, I accidently picked up enough knowledge as a teen to tend to some bees in exchange for half of the honey.
Still today it seems like a near-perfect food and honeybees are amazingly complex creature. I'm delighted that the sweet stuff has such deep biblical roots.
Now get your archeology buddies together and determine if the honey back then was clover, sourwood, orange blossom or pimento pepper.
For some reason I'm feeling compelled to put some biscuits in the oven.John D.
